A Bicycle Built For Two

Today I attended a special picnic to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of one of my best friends, Beverly, at one of our local state parks.  What a wonderful occasion to celebrate and the day was perfect!!  The thought of picnics, family and love is the inspiration behind today’s card.

This card features one of the bicycle images from Sparkle N Sprinkle’s recently released stamp set, Bicycles, featuring the art of Beccy Muir.  I stamped the image and colored with alcohol markers.  The card front features two windows, cut out with various dies, with the image centered in the second window of the popped up card front.  The sentiment, included in this set, goes so perfect with this bicycle built for two.  I stamped it on a little tag die and added it with the little polka dot brad.  Full details can be found in the SNS gallery here.

Have a great weekend!!

E. Marie

CAS

I saw this irresistible sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge and decided to once more show my friend that I am capable of doing a simple card.

This card features Sparkle N Sprinkles’ Shabby Chic Birdhouse set.  The birdhouse image is heat embossed with White Detail EP and then lightly sponged with a little Angel Pink Memento Ink.  The sentiment, from the same set, is stamped with Rose Bud Memento Ink.  That’s it!

I decided to do one more card using this sketch, and I did work a little harder on this one.  I stamped the beautiful hydrangea image from Sparkle N Sprinkles’ Spring Florals set and colored it with alcohol markers.  Then I heat embossed the same image on vellum with Detail White EP and layered this over the colored image.  The “Bloom” sentiment is included in the same set.  I stamped and heat embossed it with Amethyst Spray EP three times and cut it out with Spellbinders’ Classic Scalloped Ovals SM die.  I used my alcohol markers to add a little purple color around the edges and layered it on the card front.

How am I doing, Kim?

Happy Mother's Day!!

Happy Mother’s Day to all those wonderful mothers who give so much to those around them.  I made a special card just for you!!

The image is the center is a Beccy Muir digital image from Sparkle N Sprinkle, named Flower Wreath Set.  I colored it with alcohol markers and layered it on a black Flower Multi Frame Die by Nellie Snellen, along with a Cheery Lynn Designs Kiwi Spirit Doily cut from vellum.

The background is dry embossed with a Daisy Lace Frame die from Cheery Lynn Designs and layered on distressed layers.  I added a stitched look by running a piercer tool around the edge and adding SNS Gypsy Red Velvet Glitter with a glue pen.  The lacy border along the center is actually die cut using the Anastasia Border, also from Cheery Lynn Designs.

For embellishment I add pearls and buttons, along with three little white flowers created with Vellum, Spellbinders’ Rose Creations dies, and SNS Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter.  The butterfly in the center is die cut from vellum with Cheery Lynn Designs’ Exotic Butterfly die and layered on the coordinating angel wings die cut from sticker paper.  After layering them I added more Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter.

I stamped Sparkle N Sprinkle’s Beautiful Day sentiment with Memento Lady Bug ink and cut out with Spellbinders’ Back to Basics Tags die.

Hope you had a wonderful day.

E. Marie

Sparkle N Sprinkle's At The Beach Blog Hop

Welcome to Sparkle N Sprinkle’s “At The Beach” Blog Hop.  If you came from
Donna Ellis’ blog, you are in the right place but if you are just stopping by, you might want to head over to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog and start at the beginning to get all of the details.

The hop runs from Thursday, May 9 through Friday, May 10 and the winners will be announced on Saturday, May 11.  Visit each of the designers’ blog to see their take on our theme and leave a comment for a chance at one of the prizes.  Three of the prizes are “hidden” on 3 different mystery designer blogs and the grand prize is a stamp set of your choice.

Here is the designer list:

Marie Berquist (you are here!!)

My first card uses SNS’ new Serena Mermaid set.  After heat embossing her with Dark Night EP on watercolor paper, I colored her with watercolor pencils and cut her out.  I layered her next to a die cut window popped up over some decorative Basic Grey cardstock and the sweet little seahorse.  I used a Martha Stewart border punch to create the shell borders.  For detailed instructions on this card you can visit the SNS gallery here.

My second card is my “not so simple” easel card (see my May 6 post for explanation) using an older but adorable Pigs on Parade set.  I used a combination of dry and wet embossing for the background paper on the card front.  The sparkling waves are created by using the Glitter Masking Technique with Pistachio Glitter and Cobalt Glaze Velvet Glitter.  The Cannon Ball pig image is colored with alcohol markers, die cut using the Out of Bounds/Out of the Box Nesties technique, and added to the front with a Wobble

The card opens to reveal a sandy beach, created with Hit the Beach EP, perfect for sun bathing.  This little pig is popped up on a soft towel of Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter, created with a combination of the Stamping On Glitter technique and Copics on Glitter technique.  Go here for the detailed instructions.

I know the designers have many more wonderful ideas to share so it is time to head over to Cindy Keogh’s blog.  You will love what she has to show you!!

Don’t forget to leave a comment before you leave so you qualify for a chance at one of the great prizes!!

Happy hoppin’ !!
